Osterley Bowls Club

Congratulations to our competition winners for the 2017 season.  Well done to Phil, Joan, Clive and John (twice).  Phil and Jan also won the pairs competition whilst Jan and Daphne won the "Drawn" pairs.

The Ladies triumphed in the traditional seasonal opener - Ladies vs Gents - by 57 shots to 42.

Midweek and weekend matches start this week.

Some of the Osterley bowlers' winters are spent playing indoors at Cambridge Park Indoor Bowls Club.  League evenings are punctuated by competition matches.   Amanda, who won a pairs trophy last season won both the Ladies Championship and the Ladies Challenge Cups!!  Two other Osterley players made the semi-finals stages and so we had a great winter.

September 3rd 2016 saw Finals Day with Ladies, Mens and Pairs champions crowned along with the finale of both 75 shots and 2-wood competitions.

Congratulations to all who took part and those who were victorious

Above: The Handicap Competition was a real epic - 32 ends to find a winner - well done ladies!!

On Sunday June 12th 2016 Osterley celebated our 80th birthday as a club.  Visitors were invited from Concorde,  Featherstone, Gunnersbury, Hounslow Cons, Middlesex Ladies and Stanwell.  Despite the showery rain, we all enjoyed a BBQ (with salad of course) and a catch-up with old friends.

It was wonderful to have Her Worship The Mayor as our special guest.  Pictured (left) with our Captain, President and Secretary, she was welcomed by President Pam (centre) and responded enthusiastically (right) before taking a very keen interest in the games taking place.

The games began just as the sun broke through and we managed to avoid the rain for most of the afternoon.  At the end of the Drive, one of the Osterley teams posted the winning score and received their trophy from the club President.  Tea and cake followed.

Our fabulous birthday cake was baked by our Secretary - and it tasted as good as it looked!!

Many thanks to our friends from the visiting clubs who made our celebration day so special.

On Saturday 18th June, we joined lots of other organisations to demonstrate bowls at Feltham's Sport For All day.  Above left - waiting for the event to open with the gazebo up and mats down.  Centre - they had not cut the grass so it was a bit of a field!!  Right - despite the long grass, we still had to look like we knew what we were doing!!

The Club Captain gets in a final cut of the green before our big day tommorrow.  The green looks in wonderful condition so early in the season - a tribute to the hard work of a few club members.

Contrary to popular belief, most of our male members do know where the kitchen is and some of them have even been in it!!!

All we can do now is hope for fine weather as we invite 6 local clubs to celebrate our 80th birthday with a Round Robin Drive.
